Nurul Kabir is the present editor of the newspaper. In 2004 its offices were searched without a warrant by Bangladesh Police. A New Age reporter was tortured by the law enforcement agency Rapid Action Battalion members.

The Daily Star is the largest circulating daily English-language newspaper in Bangladesh. Founded by Syed Mohammed Ali on 14 January 1991, as Bangladesh transitioned and restored parliamentary democracy, The Daily Star emerged as a leading and influential national newspaper of record.
The Daily Star is owned by Mediaworld, in which a major share is held by Latifur Rahman's Transcom Group. The Transcom Group also owns Prothom Alo, one of the most widely read Bengali newspapers in the world.

Daily Observer

The Daily Observer is an English-language newspaper in Bangladesh.
The Daily Observer hit the stands in Bangladesh on 1 February 2011 after now defunct Bangladesh Observer stopped publication in 2010. Following the independence from British rule, The Pakistan Observer
came to the light in 1949. It had a great role in shaping public
opinion of Pakistan, in particular, East Pakistan. After East Pakistan
became independent as Bangladesh, the newspaper was renamed Bangladesh
Observer and was published under Bangladesh Observer Group. The Bangladesh Observer was founded by Hamidul Huq Choudhury, who was born in Noakhali District, Bengal (subsequently East Pakistan and now Bangladesh) in 1901. The Bangladesh Observer
had a strong, independent editorial policy that reflected both the
personality its owner Hamidul Haq and editor Abdus Salam. It continued
to ventilate people's grievance with courage. With the passage of time,
the youth of the newspaper declined and eventually it was closed in
2010. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, the last editor of Bangladesh Observer, again started the circulation of the Bangladesh Observer newspaper by the new name The Daily Observer in 2011.

Amar Desh 24

Amar Desh (Bengali: আমার দেশ) is a daily newspaper in Bangladesh, published from Dhaka in the Bengali language since 2004. Amar Desh provides news about Bangladesh from local and regional perspectives and covers international news. Amar Desh , is considered a popular opposition newspaper in Bangladesh and takes an editorial stance that favours the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. The Awami League
government has twice closed down the newspaper, and both times its
censorship occurred in conjunction with the arrests of editor Mahmudur Rahman. On 1 June 2010, the editor was arrested and the government shut the newspaper down for 10 days. Mosaddek Ali Falu, a BNP politician, and Enayetur Rahman Bappi, NTV's managing director, officially launched Amar Desh on 23 September 2004. The newspaper was sold in 2008 while Falu was serving a prison term for corruption. Journalist Amanullah Kabir was the editor of Amar Desh before it changed hands.

Dainik Bangla is a defunct Bengali Language daily newspaper in Bangladesh. Dainik Pakistan was renamed to Dainik Bangla after the Independence of Bangladesh in 1971.
After the Independence of Bangladesh the newspaper published reports on
Bengali collaborators of the Pakistan Army and war crimes. News reports from the report were used as evidence in the Bangladesh war crimes tribunal.
